Accessibility statement

This accessibility statement applies to the Sneak online store operated by Sneak Oy (Business ID: 3372005-5). The statement was prepared on 20 March 2026 and is based on the service provider's own assessment of the accessibility of the digital service.

Our commitment to accessibility

At Sneak, accessibility is a central part of the development of our online service. We believe that everyone should have an equal opportunity to shop in our online store smoothly and effortlessly. We have integrated accessibility into our development processes and make sure it is taken into account in everything we do.

Our approach to accessibility

Our approach to accessibility is holistic. Accessibility is a baseline requirement from the very start of the design and development process – not an addition made afterwards. We assess the accessibility of our service regularly using both automated testing tools and manual evaluation.

In our assessment we consider the key user journeys of the service: browsing and searching for products, viewing the product page, adding to cart, proceeding to checkout, the search function, managing the customer account and contacting customer service.

Scope and legislation

Sneak is an online store in which distance selling contracts as referred to in Chapter 6, Section 7 of the Finnish Consumer Protection Act (38/1978) can be concluded. The service falls within the scope of Chapter 3 a of the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services (306/2019) (Section 10 a), which applies to online store services from 28 June 2025.

Sneak Oy's annual turnover exceeds 2 million euros and the company employs more than 10 people, so the microenterprise exemption under Section 10 b of the Act on the Provision of Digital Services does not apply to Sneak Oy.

In accordance with Section 10 c of the Act on the Provision of Digital Services, the information content of the Sneak online store must meet the accessibility requirements referred to in Section 7 of the Act. The accessibility requirements require that the online service meets the Level A and AA criteria of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1.

Compliance status

Sneak is committed to meeting accessibility standards. We are actively working to meet the requirements of WCAG 2.1 Level AA and the European standard EN 301 549 in accordance with the EU accessibility directive (European Accessibility Act, EAA) and its national implementation.

At present, Sneak meets the above standards for the most part. Most of our content and key functions are accessible, but some areas do not yet fully meet all the requirements.

What is already accessible

We have focused on ensuring that the most important parts of the shopping journey are accessible. Our key user journeys – browsing and searching for products, adding to cart and proceeding to checkout – are accessible to users who rely on screen readers and keyboard navigation.

  • Text alternatives for images: All product images and content images include descriptive alternative texts (alt texts) so that customers using screen readers can understand the visual content.
  • Skip to content link: The site provides a "Skip to content" link that allows repeated navigation elements to be bypassed when navigating with a keyboard.
  • Form accessibility: Form elements, such as the search, newsletter and contact forms, are implemented with proper labels and programmatically defined relationships.
  • Semantic structure: The site follows a logical heading structure and includes appropriate ARIA markup in navigation elements, breadcrumbs and other structural components.
  • Status messages: Cart updates, the quick buy function and search results are conveyed to screen readers using ARIA live regions.
  • Interactive components: Interactive elements, such as the cart drawer, the quick buy window and dropdown menus, include ARIA attributes (aria-controls, aria-expanded, aria-label) that convey the state of the components to assistive technologies.
  • Screen reader support: The site uses hidden text (screen reader only) on icon buttons and other visual elements where a text alternative is needed.

Areas for improvement

We are actively working to remove the remaining accessibility barriers in order to provide a fully accessible shopping experience. We are currently improving, among others, the following areas:

Colour contrast: We are improving the colour contrast of text and non-text elements such as icons and buttons. This ensures that users with low vision can easily perceive and use all parts of the user interface. (WCAG 1.4.3)

Keyboard and focus management: We are improving keyboard navigation in interactive components such as product filters and carousels so that the focus indicator is clear and highly visible on all elements. (WCAG 2.1.1, 2.4.7)

ARIA implementation of custom components: We are completing the ARIA roles and states of the theme's custom Web Components, such as the quick buy window and filters, so that they comprehensively convey their name, role and value to assistive technologies. (WCAG 4.1.2)

The shortcomings mentioned above are mainly due to technical limitations of the e-commerce platform (Shopify) and the third-party theme. We are actively fixing the shortcomings through changes to the theme code.

Sneak Oy does not invoke the disproportionate burden referred to in Section 8 of the Act on the Provision of Digital Services for any of the shortcomings mentioned above.

The Sneak online store runs on the Shopify e-commerce platform. The accessibility of the service relies on the following technologies:

  • HTML
  • WAI-ARIA
  • CSS
  • JavaScript

We recommend using modern browsers such as Google Chrome, Safari or Microsoft Edge for the best compatibility with assistive technologies (such as NVDA, VoiceOver and TalkBack). The service can be used on desktop computers, tablets and mobile devices.
